How to prepare your file
Upload your .fmp12, .fp7, .fp5 or .fp3 database directly. No export needed, and you do not need FileMaker installed
A runtime solution's database files (.fmpur, or .usr from FileMaker 7 to 11) are read the same way. If its developer gave them another extension, rename them to .fmp12 first
A database protected with FileMaker encryption-at-rest cannot be read. Remove the encryption, or export the records as XML or Merge (.mer) instead
FileMaker Pro 1 and 2 files (.fm) cannot be read. Open one in FileMaker Pro 3 to 6, which converts it, and upload the .fp3 or .fp5 file
Several files can be sent together in a ZIP archive, or upload one file directly
From a FileMaker Server backup, leave out the RC_Data_FMS folder: the files kept in container fields are not converted
A database is read whole, in memory, so one of more than a few hundred megabytes may be too large to convert. Contact us before uploading one that large
